What is the benefit of comparing my previous mammograms?

Often the only sign of an early breast cancer is the subtle change that has occurred in the appearance of breast tissue since a previous study. If you had your previous mammograms at a facility other than Pacific Breast Center, you should try to obtain them and bring them with you when you get your new mammographic study.

Am I entitled to get original films when I request films for comparison?

Federal law requires that when requested by the patient (or by someone acting on her/his behalf), the facility is obligated by law to send the original mammograms for temporary or permanent transfer. Personnel at the receiving facility will usually be able to tell if the films are copies.
