:::: FAQ : DIAGNOSTIC BREAST IMAGING :.

DIAGNOSTIC BREAST IMAGING CONSULTATION

A diagnostic imaging consultation may be requested by the radiologist who interpreted your screening mammogram or by your healthcare provider, if a possible abnormality is detected. If portions of the breast are inadequately seen on a screening mammogram, additional mammographic images may be needed to complete the study. Some clinical and mammographic findings may require ultrasound in order to be properly evaluated. The radiologist may recommend further evaluation with Breast-Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI) or MRI in some cases that are not resolved with mammography or ultrasound.

The radiologists will be directly involved in evaluating the images to ensure that there is enough information to make a determination as to whether any further imaging or biopsy may be required. The radiologist may perform a physical breast examination in order to correlate the imaging findings with physical findings.

The radiologist will be present to discuss the findings and recommendations and to answer questions you may have.
