Breast-Specific Gamma Imaging

The Pacific Breast Center is very pleased to announce a powerful addition to our current suite of breast care imaging solutions. We now proudly offer the advanced diagnostic capability of Breast-Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI) with the Dilon 6800 Gamma Camera. BSGI is a strong diagnostic tool for those challenging cases that often make fast, accurate diagnosis difficult.

BSGI is a molecular imaging technique that has proven to be an effective tool in the early detection of breast cancer and in the differentiation of malignant and benign tumors. Better than its predecessor, scintimammography, BSGI relies on the advanced imaging technology of anatomic-specific detectors and better positioning to optimize the results of molecular breast imaging. Because BSGI is less affected by tissue density than mammography, it is the ideal diagnostic complement to mammography.

More good news is that Medicare/Medicaid and most private insurance companies cover BSGI under standard nuclear breast imaging and related pharmaceutical codes.
